| The New York State Cultural Data Project (New York State CDP) is a powerful online management tool designed to strengthen arts and cultural organizations. Arts and cultural organizations enter financial, programmatic and operational data into a standardized online form and can then use the CDP to produce a variety of reports designed to help increase management capacity, identify strengths and challenges and inform decision-making. They can also generate reports to be included as part of the application processes to participating grantmakers. This emerging national standard enables participating organizations to track trends and benchmark their progress through powerful reporting tools, empowers researchers and advocates with information to make the case for arts and culture, and equips funders with data to plan and evaluate grant-making activities more effectively. http://www.nysculturaldata.org/home.aspx |

| After a very successful summer session of internships and artist residencies, and a restful autumn, we're gearing up for our Winter 2010-2011 session of artist residencies. The betterArt residency program allows students to work on their personal projects with guidance from our staff, and offers an unparalleled living experience including the opportunity to work alongside Better Farm's staff to undertake green energy projects, alternative building and construction experiments, and to be exposed to a greener, more sustainable style of living. Residencies run one week, two weeks, one month, or longer. For those pottery students looking to build a body of work; photography majors interested in a quiet place away from home and school to develop and print their images; and engineering students looking for field space to take their projects to fruition, each stay at Better Farm is custom-tailored to an individual's interests and needs. In the past we've hosted artists-in-residence in a myriad of disciplines, including ballpoint ink, oil paint, dance and choreography, composition, glockenspiel, pottery, textiles and fashion design, writing, and more. Students visiting Better Farm for an artist residency this winter gain the additional benefit of interacting in a communal living space complete daily sit-down dinners, group outings and field trips, community outreach projects, and a division of chores; all set against the backdrop of a 65-acre organic farm in rural New York State. Please feel free to pass our Web site and contact information along to interested members of your faculty and student body: www.betterfarm.org info@betterfarm.org Rolling artist residency applications are available at www.betterfarm.org/residency-information. |
