NCAC Education Classes
Reading Like a Writer Session #1 – March 6, April 3, May 1 *CLASS FULL*
Reading Like a Writer Session #2 – March 13, April 10, May 8 – Registration
In this 3-session course, we will read short pieces of writing, and discuss them, not as readers who want to be entertained, but as writers who are studying the rhetorical moves that the authors are making. This is a class for people who are seeking to enhance their creative writing skills. We will discuss craft issues including: word choice, syntax, scope, character development, exposition, tension, showing vs telling, and many others.
This is not a writing workshop though, so we will not be reading our work in class, except as time allows in the break-out rooms at the end of each session. The aim of the course is to see what great writers are doing that we might be able to apply to our own work.
All writing levels are welcome, from beginner to advanced.
Class size limited to 10 students.
