The North Country Arts Council presents “River, Mountains, City” featuring the work of artist William Christopherson. His display will feature award winning oils, watercolors, and drawings of the St. Lawrence River, the Adirondack Mountains, and the city of Watertown, where he has resided since 1989.
The exhibit opens with a reception from 6pm to 9 pm Friday, September 8 at Arts on the Square, 52 Public Square, Watertown and will be on display through Saturday, September 30. Light hors d’oeuvres and refreshments will be served at the opening. Admission is free, but a $5 donation to benefit the North Country Arts Council is appreciated.
It was through experiencing and traveling throughout Northern New York during his career that inspired him to begin capturing the beauty of the region through his artwork. Many of his drawings, watercolors, and oils on display have received awards recognition from the North Country Arts Council, the Thousand Islands Arts Center, the Sackets Harbor Arts Center, and the View Arts Center in Old Forge, NY.
In recent years, Christopherson has become an avid outdoor “plein aire” painter, and paints at many locations including Northern New York, Maine, and Florida. He is a member of the Arts on the Square artists’ co-op, the Remington Art Center, the Thousand Islands Arts Center, and the current acting president of the Arts Association of Northern New York in Sackets Harbor.
